Veterans Day

Eighty-nine years ago, on 11/11/1918 at 11am, World War I ended with the signing of a treaty between the Allies and Germany.  In 1921 Congress declared the day, known then as Armistice Day, a Federal Holiday in order to honor all veterans of the War.  The name was changed to Veterans Day in 1954, and except for a short-lived and unpopular move to the fourth Sunday in October, the date and name have remained.
